Americano: Growing Up Queer and Latinx in the USA

A Latinx Literary and Academic Experience

Thursday, September 29th, from 6pm to 8pm

Queens College Student Union Ballroom with CUNY ID

And on Zoom for All

This hybrid Hispanic Heritage Month event at Queens College will explore the intersections of being Latinx and Queer in America. Poet, and homeless LGBTQIA+ youth activist, Emanuel Xavier, will read a selection of his poems.

The program includes a Q&A session followed by an empanada social featuring a performance by NuYorican ballroom artist, Legendary Monster, and the House of Babylon.

The first 50 in-person CUNY attendees will receive a free copy of Emanuel Xavier’s most recent book, Selected Poems of Emanuel Xavier.

Guests are invited to have their books signed by the author and chat with him one-on-one during the in-person empanada social.

In-person attendees must have valid CUNY ID and CLEARED 4 access to enter the Queens College campus. All others may join us on Zoom.

This event is made possible through the generous support of the New York City Council, Queens College, and the LGBTQ Public History Project at LaGuardia Community College.
